I won the toss and elected to field...we dismissed Canberra City Black in the last over for 132...we would have had a smaller chase but their top scorer (73) was dropped off my bowling on the forward square leg boundary when he was about 10...
we got off to a good start but kept getting out after making starts...1/31 in the 10th, 2/45 in the 14th, 3/52 in the 16th, 4/68 in the 27th, 5/103 in the 37th...
when I went in we needed 30 off 49...my first ball was a dot...30 off 48 required...the in batsman faced a maiden from their off-spinner...30 off 42 required...I scored a 4 off the next over from a full toss...26 off 36 required...the in batsman faced a maiden from their off-spinner...26 off 30 required...I scored a 4 off the next over over mid on...22 off 24 required
next over we managed to run two byes and a couple of singles...18 off 18 required....only a single off the next over...17 off 12 required...we scored 5 runs off the next (2 x 2 & a single) before the other batsman was caught off the last ball...12 off 6 required...because we'd crossed on the catch the new batsman was facing for the last over...
first ball - swing and miss outside off...12 off 5 required...second ball - swung hard to long on where it kicked over the fielder on the boundary...8 off 4 required...third ball - swung back over the bowler's head, 6!...2 off 3 required...the bowler switched to around the wicket...fourth ball - another swing and miss outside off...2 off 2 required...fifth ball - struck on the pads into the offside and we scamper through for legbye...1 off 1 required...they bring the field in...no running required as I swung the ball over wide mid on for 4...victory!
