Wednesday night I did a test drive in my car to see if I could work the clutch...luckily in my car it's more leg work than ankle work so no issues...
Thursday was my first boot-free day...dad had his knee replacement done in the morning...I had lunch with Jodie in Barton (she's a contractor now and is currently working at Finance)...I drove to visit dad (Bruce Private Hospital) after work then picked up the Adler results on the way home...
Friday I drove to the yacht club, walked to Albert Hall then bused the rest of the way in...mum rang me just after 9:30am to say she was "in a spot of trouble"...she was suffering badly from vertigo and nausea (perhaps labyrinthitis which she had suffered before but not for about 15yrs) and needed to get to hospital but didn't want to call an ambulance...she thought about calling a taxi but I said I would come and get her...lucky I was able to drive and had the car nearby...I rang Tammie as I was heading to the bus..
Tammie met me there and we helped her down the stairs (needed two of us) as her balance was shot......she was seen after about a 2hr wait then after various tests by the excellent doctor (Eilidh Gilritchie, pronounced like Hayley without the "H"), she was eventually admitted to the Short Stay Unit as the stemetil administered hadn't improved her condition enough for her to go home...I spent the rest of the day going between her and dad, updating each on the other's condition
I left there about 5pm to go home via Majura Park to do the shopping & get petrol...
yesterday, after doing my exercises etc, mum rang to say that they wanted her to see a neurologist and perhaps be admitted...I went via mum and dad's to collect various bits & pieces for her and made it to the hospital just after 11:30am...Tammie had gone straight there...
the neurologist came...more tests and then he said he wanted her to have an MRI which couldn't be done before Monday so she was admitted to the public ward...they seem 95% sure it is a viral infection in her left ear but want to rule out other issues given her risk factors...meanwhile I went and saw dad to give him an update...
once mum was settled on the ward, she had a shower and then I wheeled her over to see dad so they could check each other out for themselves...when we got back, we were in trouble for mum missing her hourly obs, oops...we'd lined up the visit with the nurse manager so it seems they hadn't passed on the information about where we were!
I headed to O'Connor to watch the second half of the Barton v Woden 4th grade game...the lads ended up with their second win by 44 defending 218...
this morning I competed my exercises etc and I will head over to see mum and dad after 3pm...
