from there it was home for a quick change with Jodie picking me for our rostered duty at O - we helped set up for the event at Black Mountain before Tammie picked me up to head to the airport...
after being driven to our hotel and checking in, we met up with one of Tammie's mates from CI...she drove us to Westfield Carindale so I could pick up my race number and then we had a late lunch...
the main event of the trip was the Women's Cricket World Cup Celebration at GOMA...it was a lovely evening catching up with everyone...
yesterday I was up early to get ready for the run...so nice not to have to layer up!
it was easy 15min walk to the start where everything was pretty relaxed, much like rocking up to the Canberra Times Fun Run! I was only a couple of metres from the front for the start...
it's a nice course, crossing the river three times...mostly flattish with some undulations after the second crossing heading towards the , we also cross the river three times...the only real hills were from around the 11k mark but there was a nice fast downhill finish...my aim was to go around 70mins and was about a minute up by the 10k mark knowing the hills were to come...I managed to time it perfectly with 10secs to spare!

spent the rest of the morning/early afternoon catching up at South Bank with one of Tammie's oldest friends Rachael and her kids Josh, Jamie and Chloe...we had a lovely late breakfast at Max Brenner!
our journey back to Canberra took longer than anticipated...we planned to catch the train to the airport (arriving 45mins before the latest check in time) but were not informed about track work which would require us catching a bus from Bowen Hills despite speaking twice to a staff member at South Brisbane station about which train station to change at (Roma St)...in the end we arrived at the Qantas check-in about 5mins or so too late to get our suitcase on, at least one other passenger missed their flight as well...we then had to pay $300 in total to get on the next available flight back into Canberra which required a stop in Sydney...instead of arriving back at 5:50pm we were back at 7:30pm...bugger...
back to being cold again after the lovely weather up north, it was frosty for this morning's walk...no O tonight, having another week off...
