parkrun #78, end of the trip...

our Friday drive saw us have brunch at the Christmas Hills raspberry farm…I started with a raspberry smoothie then had a Tasmanian smoked salmon on a lightly toasted croissant with salad, local Brie and raspberry mayo…yum!

next stop was the Ashgrove cheese farm…tasted several…

The House of Anvers was next…Belgian chocolate…and we found a cache called Death by Chocolate…

I picked up a gift for mum and dad at The Cherry Shed…

then we headed into Devonport and the Bluff where we found another cache…

we had a late lunch on the way back via the Elizabeth Town Bakery Café (aka ETC)…

one final stop was the Deloraine Cemetery where we visited the graves of Tammie’s maternal grandparents, great grandparents and great great grandparents…

after we got back, Tammie and I jumped in my car and headed to the Carr Villa cemetery where we visited the graves of Tammie’s paternal grandparents and one of her uncles

Gail had cooked up a bbq for dinner and her parents (Rhonda and Lloyd) were there as well…

Saturday was an easy morning before Launceston parkrun with squiggle…this parkrun starts at 9am…before the run I booked a doctor’s appointment as I had had a scratchy then sore throat for the past two days and I was beginning to get congested…

it was quite warm for parkrun and, except for the loop through the Heritage Forest, there wasn’t much shade…

I jogged back to find squiggle with about 1.5k to go…she thought she did 47:22 but actually did 45:41 so only a little slower than her first one and by herself for the first 3.5k in much warmer conditions…35.64%, 259th/319, 98th female/135, 4th/7 JW11-14

I had a shower and breakfast while watching the cricket before heading into town with Tammie for my doctor’s appointment at 12pm…ended up getting seen at 12:45pm….he gave me a prescription for antibiotics but said I only needed to get them if I got worse…

from there we went to Harvey Norman and picked up a couple of fans to bring back to Canberra…

I dropped Tammie off Rhonda’s to make kiss biscuits and then headed back to watch the cricket….

squiggle went shopping with Gail and Tammie later in the afternoon and then all were back for a visit from Gail’s brother Ian and his family (wife Sarah, kids 5yr old Alexandra and 3yr old Madeleine)

we then went out to dinner with Gail, Thomas, Rhonda and Lloyd to Jailhouse Grill…

we came back via the old flying fox at Duck Reach where we found another cache…I also updated our tickets online to recliner seats so we would be a bit more comfortable for the Spirit ride back to the mainland...

Sunday morning I was up and out for my last run of the trip before we headed to Hobart for the WBBL/BBL double header…the plan was an hour but I did a little extra as Thomas had told me about a hilly street to run up nearby which I hadn’t done before…

the stats:
start temp/humidity: 19.1/66% (apparent temp same)
start time: 7:16am
total distance:10.62
total time: 66:19
avg pace: 6:15
total calories: 749
avg HR: 130
TE: 3.1
recovery HR: 105/40

we headed off to Hobart at about 10am and arrived about 12:40pm, parking one block away from the ground…this was with one stop for a snack and a change of driver at Campbell Town…

we eventually got into the ground just before 1:30pm with the WBBL starting at 1:45pm…our seats were square on to the pitch, undercover in the Ricky Ponting Stand…it was quite hot so being undercover with a slight breeze off the Derwent was much appreciated…

unfortunately both Hurricane teams were defeated – WBBL: 15 runs by the Heat / BBL: by 6 wickets with 19 balls to spare by the Thunder…still it was great to attend a home game…

with the game finishing just on 10pm, we were back just after 1am with an early morning ahead of us to pack for the trip back to the mainland…

after about 4hrs sleep, we were up at 5:40am to shower and pack the car…we left to head to Devonport by 6:40am and we were one of the last cars on after grabbing some breakfast…we got underway on time and are expected to dock in Port Melbourne at 6:15pm…
