Brisbane, parkrun #79, street O @ Ainslie...

what a game that was between the Hurricanes and the Renegades on Thursday night!! we woke squiggle up with our cheering in the last over (oops)...

Friday we were up early for our 6:55am flight to Brisbane to stay with one of Tammie's oldest friends, Rachael, and her family (husband Shane and kids Josh, Jamie and Chloe)...

Rachael picked us up and we went home via the shops to get stuff for lunch...

Rachael then spent most of the morning making sticky date pudding and white chocolate & caramel cheesecake with honeycomb...

we spent most of the afternoon in the pool before we registered Josh for parkrun...

after dinner the first round of the yahtzee championship took place between Rachael, Tammie and me - we play 6 games at once so it takes about 75mins to play...Tammie won with Rachael second...

Saturday I woke Josh early to go to parkrun at the Berrinba wetlands...a 7am start but it was still hot and humid...parts of the course were in shade and it was a pretty run for the most part...the fact that I finished top 10 with a slow time shows how challenging the conditions were...

the stats:
start temp/humidity: 27.7/76% (apparent temp 31.0)
start time: 7:01am
total distance: 4.97
total time: 24:18
avg pace: 4:53
total calories: 353

recovery HR: 125/46 (*jog back to Josh)
heart beats per k: 796

splits: 4:34, 4:53, 4:50, 5:08, 4:53

8th out of 161, age 66.71%...2nd female out of 85...1st W45-49 out of 8...

I jogged back to find Josh with about 1k to go…he did well for his first one given his forte is karate…37:00, 38.33%, 60th/161, 31st male/72, 1st/2 JM11-14...

we headed north to Bribie Island for the day, meeting up with Rachael's brother Jason, his partner Lisa and his kids Hayden and Jake...our first plan was stymied by the conditions - tide in and blue bottles - so we headed to Crest Park...

we grabbed a picnic table in the shade and set up our stuff before heading to the water to cool off...we had fish and chips etc for lunch and then played cricket in the park before heading back into the water...

we headed back to Jason's place (lovely place on the canal with beach views as well) for the kids to have a play in the pool before driving back...we collected pizza on the way back before the second round of the yahtzee championship - this time Rachael won with Tammie second...

Sunday I was up early to do my long run...

the stats:
start temp/humidity: 25.4/81% (apparent temp 27.0)

total time: 70:00

total calories: 830

recovery HR: 103/50

I sat with my legs in the pool and chatted to Tammie while she paddled around before the rest of the household got up...

we played round three of the yahtzee championship after breakfast with Tammie winning and Rachael second...

after lunch Rachael and Tammie headed to the club for an afternoon of bingo with another friend Carmen....I stayed behind and ended up having another afternoon in the pool with the kids...

dinner was at Sizzler...

we squeezed in a fourth round of the yahtzee championship with Rachael winning and Tammie second....

this morning we played the fifth and final round of the yahtzee championship with Rachel again winning and Tammie second...at least I was consistent!

the kids squeezed in another swim before I went for a short walk with Josh and Jamie to find a cache...

we left for the airport at 11am with Chloe...we went via the cemetery to visit Rachael's mum and then via Westfield Garden City to find Starbucks (for squiggle) and lunch for all...

it was a quick turnaround for me after we landed as I headed to Ainslie for the second street O of the year...

Tough running conditions in Brissie. And now you're back in 'cool' Canberra. Wish you hadn't bought the Brissie weather back with you!
