Southern Stars, parkrun #69...

got to the cricket with about 9 overs to go in South Africa's innings (4/177)...they'd got off to a flyer after winning the toss to be 1/93 off 20...in the end I think the Aussies would have been happy to restrict them to 5/226...

the reply got off to a bad start with Villani (2 off 4) out caught at slip in the first over..after 10 overs we were 2/40 (comparison 1/60; Lanning out bowled for 18 off 30)...

Bolton followed in the 15th over for lbw 18 off 42 to leave the team at 3/49 needing 178 off 210...

Perry and Blackwell combined for 52 before Blackwell was caught for 25 off 51 in the 31st over...4/101 needing 126 off 118...

Perry was the mainstay and combined with an aggressive Jonassen for 26 off 24 before Jonassen was caught the ball after hitting a 6 down the ground...5/127 needing 100 off 94...

Healy came in and provided some good support scoring 28 off 29 before she was caught...6/175 needing 52 off 43...

Harris came and went for 5 off 9...7/195 needing 32 off 24...all the while Perry was playing a very controlled innings...with 3 overs to go, Australia needed 26 off 18...

Perry hit 2 4s and a 6 to finally get the asking rate under a run a ball - 9 off 12 needed...5 off the next over so the target reduced to 4 off 6...

Schutt (5 off 8) was stumped off the first ball of the last over but Beams came in and scored a single off the next ball...a single to Perry and a single to Beams leveled the scores with 2 balls remaining...

Perry drove the next ball wide of mid off to secure victory with 2 wickets and 1 ball to spare...she also recorded her highest ODI score, finishing with 93 off 107 (6x4 2x6)...having picked up 2/33 off 8, she was clearly the Player of the Match...

a very exciting match and the South Africans were very impressive...Sunday's game, also a day nighter, should be a cracker!

it was warm and still for this morning's parkrun which made for a muggy run...

I had a bit of a break before heading to Taylor Park in Queanbeyan to play my second game for Barton CC 5ths...

we lost the toss and fielded but got off to the best start possible with a wicket cleaned bowled off the first ball...in the end we dismissed them for 51 in the 27th over and then got the runs 1 down (plumb LBW given by yours truly) in the 13th over...

I bowled 5 or 6 overs, no wickets but did have a difficult skied chance dropped down the ground (fielder made a great effort to get hands on it), a couple of maidens and a couple of 4s...got to do a bit more fielding this week and didn't let the team down...
