Long weekend...

it was a miserable morning as I ran down to Lake Tuggeranong to do my volunteer duty at parkrun...I ended up being the turn marshall so ran around to that after collecting a sign and cone and taking the bridge shortcut...

I came prepared for the weather, wearing my poncho for the first time...it rained on and off with a fairly constant wind...

today's theme, given it was grand final weekend, was to wear the colours of your favourite team...I of course donned the colours of the pies, wear my jersey and cap...

a smaller field due to the conditions but we still had 149 finishers...

didn't do much else except potter around the house until the AFL GF started...

having been born in Footscray, I was barracking for the doggies...it was a very exciting game and I was pleased that they pulled away in the final quarter...

then it was off to mum & dad's for dinner where mum had cooked LMP for dessert at my request...

yesterday I took the boys for a long walk then had a good afternoon caching with Jodie and Lisa out near Uriarra Village...we ended up covering just over 10ks in just under 5hrs, finding 19 out of 20 caches searched for...we even saw a massive black snake just off the side of the track...

they stayed for dinner as we watched the NRL GF...we were all barracking for Melbourne but it wasn't enough to get them home...

this morning I was up early to feed the furry beasts before heading to the Fairy Terminal for the Sri Chinmoy Labour Day 10k...

the weather was again back to being miserable as it was raining right up until the event started....it then held off until most of us had finished before clearing again...the wind, however, was pretty strong...mostly on the way to the turn...

plenty of massive puddles to plow through and, given the conditions, I was pretty pleased to finish in under 50mins and hold off a fast finishing Elle to finish as 4th female...I think it's also the first time I've finished ahead of both Elle and Susan A...

this is the third time I've run this event:

  • 2005: 49:53 (49:49), 91 runners, 43rd overall, 5th out of 28 females, 5th out of 23 (female under 50)

  • 2016: 49:06 (49:07), 76 runners, 36th overall, 4th out of 29 females, 4th out of 24 (female under 50)
