parkrun #61, Canberra Times Fun Run 14k #4...

the rain stopped for parkrun (starting again not long after I finished) but there were some lovely big puddles to run through...a much smaller field due to the weather and those saving themselves for the Canberra Times Fun Run events...

the stats:
start temp/humidity: 9.6/100% (apparent temp 8.3)
start time: 8:02am
total distance: 4.97
total time: 23:25
avg pace: 4:43
total calories: 340
avg HR: 155
recovery HR: 109/52
heartbeats per k: 731

splits: 4:32, 4:44, 4:45, 4:47, 4:38

19th out of 88, age 68.47%...1st female out of 40...1st W45-49 out of 6...

I hung about until the end as one of the volunteers had the equipment I needed for street O on Monday...

didn't much else between parkrun and indoor except drop a bag of clothes to mum & dad's for after Sunday's run...I picked Jodie & Lisa up on the way to indoor...

for me it was my first game in 3 weeks as I missed a round due to C2S plus two matches had been forfeited to us...we were very lucky to get away with a win 148-98...

we've got two more rounds (a double-header next weekend) before the finals on 24 September...hopefully we will be back in top form for that...

I ended up staying at Jodie's & Lisa's for dinner as we watched the women's all-starts aussie rules match on Channel 7...

this morning I awoke to sunshine as conditions were perfect for the Canberra Times Fun Run...my goal was sub-68 so the challenge was on!

there was only a slight hiccough at the start with the start arch beginning to deflate as the 10sec countdown began! The leading runners were holding it up until help arrived...

I started off pretty well, with the 60min pacers passing me just after 1k...Thomo passed me a bout a k later with a cheerio...

about 4k, a young guy pushing a pram was about to pass me and I wished him a Happy Father's Day...he looked over and exclaimed Jets! Turns out he plays for the seniors so we had a quick chat about the women's GF before he continued on his merry way...

this has to be the only road event in a capital city where you have to dodge kangaroos crossing the course as two did on State Circle just before 7k!

once again the 8-10k markers were out of position so I was keeping an eye on my splits...I slowed a bit around Parliament House but picked up the pace to finish...I was waiting for the carillon bells to chime when I was on the bridge but nothing happened!...mum thinks they are being refurbished...

I pushed hard coming off the bridge, high 5ing the Westpac people...

like last year I was super stoked to cross the line in a PB of 67:29!

the stats:
start temp/humidity: 8.4/80% (apparent temp 6.9)
start time: 8:00am
total distance: 13.92
total time: 67:29
avg pace: 4:51

splits: 4:27, 4:32, 4:41, 5:00, 5:03, 4:57, 4:48, 5:09, 5:18, 4:56, 4:47, 4:52, 4:49, 4:10

official result 67:29, 209th out of 914, 41st out of 416 females, 11th out of 90 F40-49...

I said hello for the second time to Bruce G (he passed me on the bridge; 35:43 for the 10k, 13th) and then caught up with Thomo (61:25) and Scott M (63:29) as I spied mum at the finish...

after a couple of cups of water and a banana, I headed into the Canberra Centre with mum & dad for a Father's Day brunch...

afterwards they dropped me off at the interchange so I could bus back to my car...
