FkF #288...CTFR 14k #2...

Friday

no riding as planned so it was on the bus after walking Hodge…

first FkF as a participant since 1 August, a good turnout which included Canberra Times Fun Run legend Rick Hatcher (he’s done every one)…Rick also holds the record for the most FkFs (aka Customs Joggers runs) and today was his 1184th

the temperature was good but it was a bit a breezy…the Floriade course has three hills and seven road crossings so works out slower than the standard course…I’ve never beaten 23:03…

the stats:
start temp/humidity: 13.2/52% (apparent temp 8.6)
start time: 12:27pm
total distance: 5.05
total time: 26:37
avg pace: 5:16
total calories: 388
avg HR: 164

splits: 4:44, 5:21, 5:20, 5:23, 5:37, 0:12

exchanged high 5s with Janene around the 2k mark (she was out for a walk) and then had to dodge a cranky duck on a post near the 3k mark…

this ranked as 278th/288…this was the 64th time I’d run the Floriade course and was my slowest time for that…

took mum & dad out for dinner to The Green Herring at Ginninderra Village for their 50th wedding anniversary…was a lovely meal but I ate too much!

Saturday

walked Hodge

played golf – not too bad (34pts), won NTP on the 14th…Tammie cleaned up with 39pts…

from there it was off to Gungahlin for canteen duty for the preliminary finals for 3rd, 2nd, 1st grades and U18s…I’d volunteered to help out for the 1st grade (4:30pm) and U18s (7:00pm) games…I’m on again next week for the Grand Finals…the Jets get to keep the profits…

Sunday

Canberra Times Fun Run 14k – a lovely day weather-wise, the temperature was perfect with hardly any wind even near the lake…

the only real goal I had was to not go slower than 80mins (as well as not make my Achilles worse!)…in the end I managed 76:19…

my watch had the course at 13.9k (last year wearing my 310XT the course measured 14.26)…there was no 8k course marker for the 14k but the markers from 9k onwards all seemed to appear too early…markers 1-7k all appeared within 10-20m of my watch beeping…my watch normally beeps 10-20m early depending on the line I run but for those last 5 markers it was beeping well AFTER (50-75m) the markers had appeared

comparing the map I recorded last year to this years, it looks like they had us turn too early this year for the Parliament house section (at Queen Victoria Terrace/National Cct instead of King George Terrace)…oops…

the stats:
start temp/humidity: 6.1/89% (apparent temp 4.1)
start time: 8:00am
total distance: 13.90
total time: 76:19

mum and dad were there at the finish and even managed to spot me this time…they gave me a lift back to my car before heading off to enjoy the rest of Father’s Day…

played golf again but not quite as well as Saturday (30pts)…Tammie had a bit of a shocker but it was a nice day to be out playing again…

this morning I was up on time (amazing for a Monday) and walked Hodge before riding to work…it’s getting warmer and nearly time to ditch the jacket…

the stats:
start temp/humidity: 19.1/76% (apparent temp same)
start time: 7:36am
total distance: 13.27
total time: 36:55 (including 4:14 stopped time)
