in the afternoon, Classics beat Sutherland 6-3 in a tight semi to progress to next week's grand final against WhISpers...
I hosted dinner at my place and cooked Apricot Chicken Risotto, Mushroom Risotto and Banana Choc Custard...mmm, love my Thermomix!
this morning I was up early for the Weston Creek HM...
my last attempt on this course was back in 2010 when I was training for my first (subsequently aborted) marathon attempt...that day I managed a miserable (for me) 1:53:16 and I threw in the marathon plans...I had previously run it in 2009 in 1:44:05...
conditions were cool and a little breezy to start...my plan was just to run on feel with no real set goal in mind other than to run under 110mins...I recorded my splits for 5k, 7k, 10k, 14k, 20k and 21k...
the wind picked up and seemed to be mostly a headwind regardless of which direction we were running (well, that's what it felt like anyway!) so I was pleased to cross the line in 88th position with a time of 1:45:32! (I don't think there were as many runners this year)
this was sightly faster than the (flatter) HM I ran in January last year in the lead up to the marathon I did run...and my 6th fastest out of the 22 I have done (my average time is 1:49:02, best 1:43:10, worst 1:57:34...
the stats:
start temp/humidity: 10.6/61% (apparent temp 8.9)
finish temp/humidity: 13.2/43% (apparent temp 10.8)
start time: 7:30am
total distance: 21.32
total time: 1:45:32
avg pace: 4:57
total calories: 1319
avg HR: 163
splits:
5k: 24:00, 24:42, 25:02, 26:32, 5:24
7k: 33:51, 34;43, 36:36, 0:30
10k: 48:42, 51:34, 0:30

Nice work in the half marathon this morning Allrounder & sorry my blonde brain didn't register your "hi" until after we'd passed each other heading in opposite directions near the turnaround. I too, found it breezy but was happy to run 1.39. Were you using this morning's run as a lead into the Canberra marathon in April or just as a good half marathon run for its own sake? Either way, good on you!
Nice race Bron. I reckon you're coming into HM PB-breaking form.
The faster you run the stronger the headwind. A headwind all the way = superfast!
Fantastic result Bron. Well done you!
