Murryong East

again left later than intended this morning...three motorcyclists where using the cycle lane on Gungahlin Drive to pass banked up cars - not on people!...

buses were still an issue with the later time but it was the idiot drivers out there that kept me on my toes!...the first was a taxi turning off Northbourne into Downer from the city direction who almost didn't check for cyclists (cars were banked up and keeping clear of the intersection) - it's not the best intersection so I was slowing down anyway, he stopped...the next was a taxi coming out of a hotel driveway - he was already sticking out into the cycle lane then decided to go without looking - good swerve from me there...then the third was a rental car in the left-hand turning lane to head onto Wakefield Ave when he decided he was going to go straight instead, sheesh lucky my brakes work...

orienteering was out at Murryong East (off the King's Highway) and was a sprint event...I chose the Red 1 option (harder navigation) against Jodie's Orange 2 option...the courses were nearly the same length (2.5 v 2.2) but the maps were quite vague...Jodie's headstart was 4:10 but she blitzed it to finish 10:59 ahead of me...
