Saturday
participated in the inaugural Morrison Street Rogaine...
done a handicapped basis by age...the older runners got to leave first...I was the youngest in the 40-44 category so only got 64mins to visit as many controls as I could...
managed to time it to perfection, finishing with 40secs to spare having visited 28 controls (including 2 worth 25pts instead of the usual 10pts) and covered just over 9ks...

had to dash off to Ainslie for footy but was surprised to receive a text after the game to say I was the overall winner with 310pts! suh-weet!
footy was played in wet conditions and it was a real battle...Ainslie were 3rd on the ladder and we had never beaten them but that's all changed!
scores were locked at 1.1-7 at quarter time...we snuck ahead at halftime through some desperate defence 2.1-13 to 1.4-10...we extended our lead slightly through the third quarter 3.1-19 to 1.5-11...the final quarter saw no addition to the score as we held on to win despite being camped on our own 50 for the last 10mins off the game! it felt like we had won a grand final!!
my ankle managed to come through relatively well but my right shoulder is another matter...
early on in the first quarter I tried to lay a big shepherd on a brick wall (my opposing ruckman) just as she did the same to me and she caught me right on the point of the shoulder...something crunched and I was unable to really use that arm above my head for the rest of the game...
to add to that I got completely pole-axed in the third quarter and had all the air knocked out of me...I was running at full tilt trying to keep the player with the ball towards the boundary when I was blind-sided by a shepherd...didn't see that one coming at all!
needless to say the team song was belted out with gusto after the game!
I then had to drive to Sydney...pretty hard with only one functioning arm in a manual!
Sunday
spent the day watching the Canberra Classics Gold softball team playing in the Georges River two day masters tournament...
they went through the round matches on Saturday (4) and Sunday (2) easily undefeated...they then played the top team (Rebels) from the other pool and won a thriller 1-0 to advance to the Grand Final...they were due to play Rebels again (after they beat Phoenix in the preliminary final) but the match was rained/hailed out!
I spent most of the time icing my shoulder while I was spectating...luckily I could get ice bags from the first aid people as I went through three bags...
today
my shoulder has improved considerably although it's still painful to touch and move in certain positions...
I skipped gym and riding to/from work but the plan is to attend footy training tonight - only two more games to go!
tomorrow I have physio for my ankle so I'll get him to check out my shoulder as well!
