short version: we won 15-9...for some it was their 4th consecutive grand final...this was a maiden premiership for the Black Bears...
long version:
we batted first
1st inning: I started off my batting much better this game, batting at 6 we were two down with 1 run but I hit a double to deep left field to get two runners home, unfortunately I was left on 2nd...I fielded at shortstop...our catcher dropped two strikes and had to throw to 1st to get the outs (successful with one but not the other) - not the best arm but just managed to beat the batter...they got 1 run...
3-1 to Black Bears...
2nd inning: we managed to rustle up another 3 runs...I didn't get to bat this time...an error free fielding innings held the Bandits scoreless - the catcher dropped two more 3rd strikes but turned them into outs at 1st...
6-1 to Black Bears...
3rd inning: my turn to lead off and I hammered a line drive to 3rd which ricocheted off the fielder's shin (called an error!) - I nearly got to 2nd...I got home as did the next batter...a couple of errors and some good hitting saw the Bandits score 3 runs
8-4 to Black Bears...
4th inning: only Jodie got home in this innings due to some poor batting (including me!) and a pitcher change...I switched into catcher...a few more errors and some good hitting including a triple saw the Bandits score 5 runs...
9-9!
with 5mins left to play, there was only 1 inning left each...
5th inning: we finally got our batting back together again as well as forcing some errors in the field...after hitting my first pitch foul I managed to restrain myself from chasing junk and got walked...the pressure was on the Bandits to score 7 to win...the first out was skied foul which I caught (first time I've managed to whip the mask off all season and make the catch!)...the next batter got walked, she stole to 2nd...the next batter ground the ball to shortstop who after a slight fumble threw to 1st for the out, the runner on base progressed to 3rd...the 3rd and final out was also fielded by shortstop who threw to 1st for the out...
victory to the Bears 15-9!!
the weekend was rounded out for the Bears with victories in the U16s and A grade..
