Canberra Times Fun Run

managed to just scrape in under 48:00 so bettered my revised goal...

Jodie, Suze & Hux dropped me off about 9:15am...rain before the start caused runners to seek shelter under nearby trees...

pretty strong headwinds and showers on and off during the run made it interesting...but not nearly as interesting as having to deal with walkers that hogged the path off King's Ave bridge to the finish...

the last time I ran this was in 2001 and I'm pretty sure we used to follow the bike path off the bridge all the way to the finish except for the last 150m or so on grass...I was thrown when people cut across the grass to the road after coming off the bridge...I stayed on the bike path until it was right along side the road and then went to the edge of the lake just past the naval memorial with everyone else...when did that change??

the stats:

start temp/humidity: 16.3/78%
start time: 9:44am
total distance: 10:02
total time: 47:59
avg pace: 4:48
total calories: 793
avg HR*: 180

*Time spent in HR Zones:
00:00 [Z1: 93-111]
00:19 [Z2: 111-130]
00:10 [Z3: 130-148]
01:20 [Z4: 148-167]
35:48 [Z5: 167-185]

1k splits: 4:52, 4:45, 4:47, 5:01, 5:07, 4:48, 9:51 (missed the 7k marker), 4:18, 4:29

I'm not entirely sure the k markers were in the right place for the last few...got randomly interviewed for the CT after the run so it will be interesting to see what quotes get used (if any)...

met up with the gang including mum & dad afterwards...said hello to Ewen & Thea...bumped into SG, Maria & Peter, Charlie on the way to the car park...

spent the afternoon caching (8) on the southside before heading home via the grocery shopping...

yesterday golf was played in lovely spring conditions (if you didn't mind the wind)...shot 93 off the stick (nett 78), which may have been enough to win a ball...the highlight of my round was nearly eagling the 17th, the longest hole on the course (I did get the birdie!)...

did some caching either side of golf (2 before, 1 after) to bring up my 500th find...

the Jets presentation was held at the Belconnen Labor Club - I managed to pick up B&F for the women while Jodie won the best defender...didn't get home until well after midnight and didn't go to bed until about 2am...

i think I will sleep well tonight...
