Sydney HM - Fundraising...

this year the Sydney Running Festival organisers have included the OPTION of an entry rebate if you raise a certain amount of money for one of their selected charities...in my case if I raise $533 I can get $80 back (other race rebates occur at $900/$135 for marathoners, $333/$50 for bridge runners and $233/$35 for family fun runners)...donations are made through individual runner web pages supplied once you have entered...

they have two official charities:
Osteoporosis Australia
Black Dog Institute

and fourteen supporter charities:
MaAfrika Tikkun
Vision Australia
The National Heart Foundation (NSW)
Cancer Council NSW
McGrath Foundation
Clean Up Australia
Scouts Australia
The ING Foundation
The Spastic Centre
Day of Difference
Friends of Rambutso
Cure Cancer Australia Foundation
Mindd Foundation

I have elected to raise money for the McGrath Foundation - "Jane McGrath co-founded the Foundation with her husband Glenn [yes, the cricketer] after her initial recovery from breast cancer. She experienced first hand the shortage of breast care nurses in Australia during her treatment and became determined to help others in her situation. The Foundation aims to educate young women to be "breast aware" as well as raising money to place breast care nurses, particularly in rural areas."

I have decided that if I do raise the minimum amount my entry rebate will also go into the Foundation as well...my page can be found here if anyone feels so inclined to contribute!
