Weekend wrap...

yesterday saw the debut of the Gungahlin Jets in the ACWAFL...unfortunately we went down to Ainslie 10.12 72 to 0.0 0...

I played mostly on the half back line with a little bit of time in the ruck until the last quarter when an injury to our normal ruck saw me play out the game there...in the last ball up of the match I copped a knee in the lateral side of the quad which made me wonder if I'd be able to do the Marathon Eve 10k...

I managed to arrive about 25mins before the start of the race...bumped into a guy from work aiming to beat his age and said hello to SG and Rachelle...after some stretching and a little warm up to see if my leg would hurt much, I positioned myself mid-pack behind Strewth and Margaret McSpadden...my aim was to at least break 50:00 and see how I went from there...

started off slowly and then just tried to maintain a steady pace...missed seeing the 7k marker...

with about 4k to go, SG pointed out that Rachelle was up ahead...on the final big lap I could see her looking over her shoulder on each turn so she knew I was coming!...I couldn't make up the deficit as she finished 9secs or so in front of me...

the stats:
start temp/humidity: --.-/--%
start time: 4:00pm
total distance: 10.17
total time: 47:31
avg pace: 4:40
total calories: 808
avg/max HR*: 177/235

*Time spent in HR Zones:
00:04 [Z1: 93-111]
00:07 [Z2: 111-130]
00:04 [Z3: 130-148]
00:10 [Z4: 148-167]
42:21 [Z5: 167-185]

1k splits: 4:50, 4:38, 4:42, 4:57, 4:48, 4:46, 9:37, 4:42, 4:26

this was the second time I had run this event (1st time was 2006) so I was pretty pleased after the day I'd had to only be 1:25 or so slower...

left pretty much straight away after a chat with SG and Rachelle (a 10k PB)...

the flight to Sydney was good and it was good to catch up with people at the birthday party...

today we arrived back in Canberra just before lunch...Jodie had an AFL match to umpire (and she got to order someone off for the first time for 2 reportable offences, both striking) while I elected to miss the planned long run...
