took the day off work to attend the first ODI in Canberra since the 1992 World Cup (I went to that one too!)...
rain delayed play but after a herculean effort from the groundstaff, play started at 1:30pm with a 29 over a side match...
Sri Lanka won the toss and put India in...India made 5/195 (Tendulkar 32 of 30, Gambhir 35 off 33, Dhoni 31 off 25, Rohit Sharma 70no off 64) but just as they headed off the field it started to rain again...
Sri Lanka's innings was reduced to 21 overs with a start at 4:40pm, the target 154...they reached it with 2 overs to spare!! (Jayasuriya 27 off 13, Dilshan 62no off 59, Jayawardene 36no off 35)...
it was a real carnival atmosphere with plenty of Sri Lankan and Indian fans, chanting, waving flags, blowing whistles...a crowd of just over 6000 was there...mum & dad enjoyed it too and so did Jodie who was there for the first innings...
bodes well for Cricket ACT's aim to have 2 women's cricket World Cup matches in 2009 and a test in 2013...
I thought it was cool to see rival spinners Murali and Harbhajan having a good chat while their respective teams were warming up before the match...
so no run for me today...

The bits I heard on the radio sounded good. Amazing they got a game in considering the weather.
