this one was at Remembrance Park behind the War Memorial...
the orange 1 course was 5k and i did it in 67:41, an average pace of 13:32...
as you can see from the map i had a little bit of trouble finding #5 (a pit) but other than that i had a fairly good run...i chose to follow paths and trails etc rather than try and bush bash my way around plus i tried to avoid anything too steep but as you can see from the elevation graph below i still did a fair bit of climbing...

the stats:
start temp/humidity: 23.4/51%
start time: 5:17pm
total distance: 7.24k
total time: 1:07:41
avg pace: 9:20
total calories: 685
avg HR: 151
finish temp/humidity: 22.0/56%
jodie had another good run, doing the same course in 73:03...she's definitely closing the gap on me - i think her navigation is better than mine but don't tell her i said that!...
after we finished i had to rush off to Manuka to attend the disciplinary committee hearing which of course ran over time and i didn't get home until 9pm...

in answer to Ewen's question about what do you find in a cache - it could be anything EXCEPT food & drink (don't want the wildlife helping themselves)...generally small trinkets for which you swap but you don't have to swap anything, you can just sign the log to say you found it...sometimes there's "travel bugs" which are uniquely identified and get moved from cache to cache, sometimes they have a particular goal, sometimes it's just to see how many caches they can visit and how much ground they can cover...travel bugs have dog tags attached with a unique number which you use to log their movement on the geocaching website - people can add photos/stories etc...
