in my infinite (?!) wisdom, i elected to participate in today's Black Mountain Run Up at lunchtime...
i jogged over leaving not much time to spare before the start, FlashDuck said a quick hello and i saw a few of the other runners i am becoming more familiar with...
everyone started at the same time so i figured i would have plenty of people to follow...there was a simple map at the start but you never know if you are going to miss a turn...i need not have worried as there were little arrow signs where necessary and i did always have someone in sight...
after yesterday's rain, the course was surprisingly slip-free and today's weather bore absolutely no relation to yesterday's as it was quite warm indeed...
the last k was spent mostly walking with the occasional trot but i found it too steep to maintain any sort of running rhythm...the graph below is of the run up itself (2.59k)...

and what goes up must come down so after a brief rest at the top i made my back down, roughly retracing my steps to the start and then made my way back to work...
i guess this was a 4 part run:
| distance | time | avg pace | calories | avg HR | ||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Warm up | 2.26k | 12:21 | 5:27 | 156 | 160 | |
| rest 2:12 | ||||||
| UP! | 2.59k | 20:28 | 7:53 | 167 | 171 | |
| rest 6:29 | ||||||
| DOWN! | 2.50k | 18:14 | 7:17 | 170 | 146 | |
| rest 0:09 (!) | ||||||
| Warm down | 2.00k | 14:32 | 6:33 | 184 | 151 | |
| TOTAL | 9.36k | 65:37 | 7:01 | 677 | 157 | |
tonight we are going geocaching, this time over near Parliament House to start with and i will get to try out my new light weight hiking boots which i bought on Saturday...
i think i'm going to be glad that tomorrow is a swim day!

I can't believe you ran up a mountain in your lunch break!
Well done anyway!
Good on you. Lol, now I feel like such a wimp. :p
I'm impressed - I haven't done that run yet, and probably won't be in any hurry to try it!
