Road trip, fishing & parkrun #246...

Wednesday

road trip! Drove to Sussex Inlet through rain to stay at an Airbnb (Villa Nina) for three nights…located right on one of the waterways, it had a private jetty so we could park the boat overnight….we had the whole top floor...

tried our hand at catching some poddy mullet to use as live bait…got one decent sized one and a handful of tiddlers…

had dinner at the RSL…

Thursday

went for a run before heading out on the water…15 x 30on/off…wasn’t raining but there were plenty of big puddles!

we headed out on the water just after 10am and stayed out until about 4pm…

we fished in St George’s Basin where the inlet fed in from the ocean…

the rain came at about 11:30 and lasted for a couple of hours…I got to test out my new waterproof fishing jacket (thumbs up)….in all we caught about 15 fish and one ray…about 6 were good legal size but all were released….the catch covered bream, black bream, flathead (including my biggest ever at 47cm), flounder, leatherjacket, puffers (yuck), trevally and whiting…

left the boat at the jetty overnight…

dinner was at the Bowlo with some friends…

had a good night on the pokies!

Friday

back on the water just after 8…weather was perfect but the fishing not as good…one flattie and the rest puffers….

we took a break for lunch – back to the jetty and I went to the bakery and the fish & chip shop…

I did some driving over both days to cover off my log book for boating licence…

packed up the boat & had Thai takeaway for dinner

Saturday

parkrun #246/Huskisson #2 (different course to the one I originally did)...was a break in the rain so conditions were good although again there were puddles…HR battery died…
