ARF Half Marathon #2 (HM #24)...PB!

Saturday we headed off early to take squiggle back to Gundagai for the handover then we did some caching in Yass for a couple of hours before heading home...

later in the afternoon I took the boys for a walk before having an easy night...

yesterday I was up early to get ready for the half marathon...I was down to the start not long after 7...it looked like a perfect morning for a long run and so it proved to be...

mum and dad arrived around 7:30am, saw the start, saw me after the loop around Parliament House then hung about at the finish...

my plan was to try and keep a steady pace...the first k was a bit congested but not too slow...

I was keeping on eye on my time for the first 16k (there were no markers for the 17th and 18th ks although I did spot the 17k marking on the ground)...after that I just tried to keep pushing although my pace felt slower as I headed up on to Commonwealth Ave and over the bridge...

tried to pick up the pace coming off the bridge as well as encouraging some others around me who were struggling...the tun to the finish seemed a long way away!

after not looking at my watch for the last 5ks, I was pleased to cross the line in a new HM PB of 1:43:01, 9secs quicker than my previous best nearly 7 years ago!

the stats:
start temp/humidity: 8.2/81% (apparent temp same)
start time: 7:45am
total distance: 21.37
total time: 1:43:01
avg pace: 4:49
total calories: 1499
avg HR: 157
recovery HR: 124/46

5k splits (at each marker): 23:57, 24:12 (48:09), 24:24 (72:33), 25:19 (97:52)...

412th out of 2181, 69th female out of 1079, 27th out of 334 (W40-49)...

had a quick chat to Craig W as we grabbed some drinks and fruit then caught up with mum & dad...

from there I got changed and headed off to Gold Creek to caddy for Tammie in the club's pennant match v Gungahlin Lakes...they'd tee'd off at 9:50am and I walked the front 9 in reverse to find them on the 4th green (Gold Creek is a slow course to walk)...Tammie had to give 4 shots and ended up squaring her match, needing to win the last hole...the team ended up squaring with 2 winning and 2 losing, Tammie's match (the only one to go to the 18th) was the last to finish so she did well...the team currently sits on top of the ladder with 4 rounds to go...

spent the rest of the day resting!

tonight's street O is at Rivett and I will have my cycling sidekick back...

Fantastic race Bron. Your purple patch continues. Or perhaps it's the start of a new one.
