Track Meet #21 2010/11

just the one event tonight - the 1500m...

I'd run 4 1500s this season with a best of 6:12.56 in November but my last one in February was a slow 6:30.42...

I thought I'd try and target 6:00 flat which meant 24sec/100m...I did a 900m warm up and one run through of 100m to see what that sort of pacing felt like...

then I had to wait out the first heat where the first five finishers were under 5:00 (!) with Bruce leading the way with 4:35ish...I was on a tight time schedule having to be at Gungahlin Lakes by 7:30pm...

I knew roughly what I had to target pace-wise (I'd spent my warm up doing the calculations):

300m 1:12
700m 2:48
1100m 4:24
1500m 6:00

the race started at 7:15pm...I positioned myself reasonably well...the night was quite cool with a bit of a headwind in the finishing straight...

300m 1:11

looking good I thought, I knew I just had to keep it steady as I tend to ease off in the middle...

700m 2:49

not bad for me...the interesting thing was that on the next lap I passed Kathy S - I don't think I've ever beaten her over 1500m...

1100m 4:24

wow, smack on target and I knew I could finish strong...I pinned my ears back in the last 150m...I finished 8th...

1500m 5:52 !!!!! time to be confirmed

UNBELIEVABLE!! not only did I run a season's best by some 20secs, I smashed my previous best (set in January 2008) by 9secs!!!!

maybe there's a good HM time lurking around the corner...

unfortunately I literally had to run off...

footy news - the jumper presentation started late so I didn't need to rush...we've got 3 senior men's teams plus an U18s (new) in addition to the women's side...I'm #4 again and I'll be starting in the ruck against Eastlake @ Kingston this Saturday...

renting update:

firstly, still no news on Casey, maybe I'll hear something tomorrow...(fingers crossed)

I checked out two more places today after work - one in Harrison (nice but not as good as Casey) and one in Holt ("Parkview" - the apartment was OK but the location not so good so I've crossed any apartments there off the list)...

another one has popped up in Harrison which Suze is going to check out for me on Saturday (I'm at footy when the place is open for inspection)...

Wow! A lifetime PB - that's fantastic. 5:51.52, so under 5:52. If only the season were longer...

...and the first time I've cracked 70 age % (70.6) in a middle distance event!!

drug test.....!!

Noticed that. 70% is a goal of mine.

I'm on the phone to ASADA now. Strong coffee? Red Bull? Titanium necklace?
