Customs #166

a good run tempered by sad news...

Peter D made an announcement at the end about two people - firstly Amanda Chew is now in the hospice as her cancer is terminal, she has no expectations of ever leaving and secondly Pete himself has had cancer return after having a successful operation 18mths ago...sad news indeed...

I was much more organised this week and arrive with plenty of time to spare...a new runner at today's run, Brooke N (a work buddy of Tony O's I believe), ran with me and pushed me to my fastest time on the Floriade course since September '06!...my goal is still to break 23:00 and this run does give me hope (especially after last night's session)...

tomorrow I'm up early (meeting at 5:30am!) for a road trip to Wagga to act as runner for the mighty Jets, should be back by 3:30pm...

Sunday sees a long run for me of 2hrs and 90mins for Jodie - I'm planning on riding with her after my run...

Jodie & Suze are off to Sydney tonight to see P!nk...

and this is the event Jackie F is doing this weekend - The Kokoda Challenge:

"The Kokoda Challenge is a cross-country bushwalking team event where teams of 4 people trek a 96km course through the Gold Coast Hinterland within a 39 hour time limit.

The event was designed to reflect the key elements of the Spirit of Kokoda with 96km representing the actual distance of the Kokoda Track and the 39 hours symbolizing the 39th Militia who were the first of our Australian troops to arrive at Kokoda on 15th July 1942."

Thanks for the explanation, I didn't take enough care in understanding what the event was about.
