Mt Rob Roy Challenge aka Lanyon Homestead to Rob Roy Summit

I signed up for this one as a training run rather than a race because I'm rubbish at uphill stuff and even worse at downhill stuff!

Conditions were cool but not windy...(it was warm in parts once into the meat of the run)...I think there was about 25 or so people...

Steve A was the starter...in fact he interrupted his description of the course to get us underway!

Set off at a steady pace with Geoff B shepherding us across Tharwa Drive...ran with two other women until we hit the steep bit (just after Tim S's water station) where I was promptly reduced to a walk as expected...this area was pretty slippery and almost proved my undoing on the way down...

Managed to get a break on the other two once I could get "running" again...Bronwyn W made ground on me once we hit the gate to climb into the nature park...

First of the runners going the other way passed me at about the 50min mark...

Just before the summit John H was taking photos and I asked him to wait until I was running!

Reached the top in just over 65mins (1:05:29)...stopped for a quick drink of water and a chat with Carol H before heading back down - John H definitely got some photos of me running at this stage!...Bronwyn W caught and passed me within about 500m...once she was out of sight no-one else passed me...

Had to walk on the side of the really steep bit, using handholds where possible - Tim S congratulated me on making it down in one piece! How on earth do people run up and down these bits at pace without mishap??

Trotted over the finish at 2:01:01, missing my aim of sub 2:00...just in time for the presentations...David Hosking (44:36/1:17:56) was the winner with Angela Bateup (48:18/1:22:18) as the first female and 4th overall...Trevor J passed on the news that Martin Fryer aka Phibes had hit the lead in the 48hr race in Sugeres, France (just checked - he's way in front with about 3hrs to go, done over 400k on no sleep!)

I was 19th/31 (7th/12 females) to the summit & 19th/28 (7th/11 females) back to the homestead....
