parkrun #116, speedygeese short long run, squiggle...

Friday was the usual - walk the boys, drive to the yacht club, walk to work...

there was a slight difference for FkF though as I had to take my laptop to calculate the winner of the point-score on the day...Nick was there from The Runner Shop with Marc from On to let runners test shoes...Nick also presented the trophy to the winner of the point-score, Thomo...

walked back to my car after work then did the shopping...

Saturday was a lovely day for parkrun...

cricket was at Deakin Mint against Brewers Best...we've played every team once now so now we are working our way through playing them a second time...

we batted first and the combination of a long outfield and some ordinary batting (plus in one instance some very poor calling), we only managed to score 8/141 off our 45 overs...extras were second top score...

they got off to a good start and in the 19th over one of our players hurt his shoulder and had to leave the field - turns out he broke his collarbone but fortunately no surgery required...

we took an early drinks to deal with the injury and upon resumption picked up our first wicket, a run out off my bowling...I had a very close LBW denied (not sure what it was missing!)...

one of our players came back for a second spell at the opposite end to which he started and sparked a mini-collapse - he ended up with 5/27 with 5/7 in his second spell...

one of our players was having a shocker - he was the one responsible for the poor call...he got himself out sweeping onto his stumps...then in the field, I had been smacked for 6 over wide midwicket so we put him out there...an over or so later he made a great attempt to catch the same guy but dropped it and it went for 4...I got him to stay in the same spot where that one landed and the batsman played the same shot next ball straight to him - he juggled it and in his attempt to catch the ball knocked it over the boundary for 6...later on he missed a run out...

in the end they got the runs 6 down at the end of the 41st over...at least we denied them a bonus point...

there's one more round before Christmas - our 3rd grade side is on top of the ladder, we (4s) are 4th and 5th grade are also on top of the ladder...

yesterday I did the speedygeese long run at Pine Island...Shiree was the organiser and the course was an out & back in the direction of Kambah Pool...SG was there for his first one...some of the Viking triathlon club joined us too - doing up to 10k...

SG did about 12.5k, Warrick 14k, me/2 stack Ewen/Sandeep 15k (we turned around at the Red Rock Gorge lookout), Shiree/Adrian/Peter/Mike/Graeme/Narelle 20-21k...

didn't do much else for the rest of the day except watched some WBBL, did some cache maintenance for Suze (didn't need it), found a couple of caches at ANU then picked squiggle up just before 8pm after she bused up from Albury...

it was lovely for this morning's walk...drove to the yacht club then bused from Albert Hall...planning to do speedygeese but am quite sore in the hip flexors from cricket so might give it a miss...I'll see how the day goes...
