Canberra Airport were handing out free ANZAC biscuits in a souvenir package after you passed through security then Virgin Australia had a minutes silence before departing...they also distributed ANZAC biscuits once we were in the air...
Suze and Delanie picked me up from the airport and we headed into town to park near Southern Cross station...
had a short tram ride (free) before we did some caching on the walk to the ground...found three from three...
settled into our seats by 2:30pm to watch all the pre-game ANZAC tributes...AFL crowds know how to pay their respects with silence...85000+ and you could hear a pin drop...spine-tingling...
the 'pies got off to a cracking start...52 in the first quarter and 38 in the second to lead by 76 at half time, it was much more even in the second half but the damage had been done as the 'pies won by 69 (142 to 73)...
once the final siren blew, we powered walked back into town then caught a tram back to the station, making it to the airport on time for my 7:40pm flight...back in Canberra by 8:45pm and home by 9:15pm...
it was quite fresh for this morning's walk, nearly time to get the trackie dacks out!...
