mum & dad made it there before the start to wish me luck...I started almost at the front which was kind of odd!...in fact I was right behind Shane Rattenbury...
this position enabled me to see where the other female runners were and I was surprised to find myself in third...after the turn, second seemed to be a couple of hundred metres in front but I seemed to be making up ground...
I knew she was slowing when she started to look back over her shoulder and I eventually caught her with about a k to go...first finished about 700m in front of me...I was happy with the time too although the course was a little short...all finishers got a medallion...
the stats:
start temp/humidity: 11.0/99% (apparent temp same)
start time: 7:00am
total distance: 9.89
total time: 45:18
avg pace: 4:35
total calories: 649
avg HR: 158
recovery HR: 115/55
splits: 4:21, 4:19, 4:25, 4:31, 4:30, 4:45, 4:52, 4:55, 4:44, 3:57
the course is slightly downhill to the turn and therefore uphill on the way back...
the presentations were held at 8:30am and I was lucky enough to score a trophy, $50 Canberra Outlet voucher, a 6mth Club Lime Silver membership and another Lifeline water bottle (all finishers got a white one, top 3 got a grey one as well)...
after getting change, I grabbed some breakfast at Majura Park before heading off to do some caching...I found two in Campbell then started looking for one behind CSIRO...
I returned to the car to re-do the calculations and realized I'd fat fingered one of the numbers...I waited at my car until Jodie joined me (she'd messaged me while I was searching to see where I was)...we found that cache and then another further up Mt Ainslie where we bumped into Ruth and Dave on the way...they were doing a run on one of the Triple Tri legs for Dave's benefit...
after making that next find (great views) we headed back to the cars and onto Hackett to find one more cache in the suburb proper before heading over the saddle between Mt Majura and Mt Ainslie to find the two caches I needed to make 3000 finds...
we parted ways after that - Jodie to head to broomball and me to finally head home...
