I de-commuterfied my bike in preparation for Sunday's duathlon...
Saturday Hodge and I were the "tail" runners for parkrun...we were last across the line in 260th position in a time of 1:02:53, an age % of 25.26%...I can safely say that this is my slowest official 5k ever!
then it was home for a quick breakfast before a road trip to Sydney for the wedding of Tammie's eldest niece...the ceremony was held at St John's in Camden at 1pm with the reception at the Grand Royal in Granville at 6:30pm...it was a Lebanese style reception and it was very loud but fun...we ended up leaving at 11pm and made it home at 2:10am...
today was the day for my first official duathlon with my participation in the Stromlo Sprint Duathlon...
despite a very late and tiring night I was up just after 6 and in place at Stromlo Forest Park at around 7:30am...I had a chat to Ewen....mum and dad arrived in supporter mode and I also spoke to Ruth and Dave...
the race got underway right on 9:15am...I managed a really good run to have a 23:00 split for the 5k...my fastest 5k in quite some time...
the cycle leg was undulating and to top things off the turn was at the bottom of the longest hill...luckily for me I could plug away in granny gear, thanks to my MTB, to get back to the top without having to get off the saddle...
I didn't pass anyone on the ride as you would expect but got passed by 18....three of who were female and passed me in the last k or so...I could keep them in sight and this gave me added incentive for the final run...
in the end I reeled those three back within the first 100m or so and then pegged back another female to finish in 57th place overall...
my plan originally was to finish in under two hours although I guess I was hoping to be under 1:45...I finished in 1:26:55!

A day later I can say it was good fun ;-) Your first 5k was fantastic - that'd be sub-23 on the 5k running course (faster the other direction and slightly shorter not running to transition). I measured 20.9 from in transition at the bike to back there.
My 3 splits were all around 55-7th place - didn't get passed on the bike.
I want to know how slow you have to do the Parkrun to score an A/G% of 5% or less? Half a day?
