parkrun #18 and the CTFR 14k...

left work early Friday which is probably just as well as I passed through the Boddington Cres/Drakeford Dr intersection about 20 minutes before the fatal accident which occurred there...the cars ended up right where I ride...

the stats:
start temp/humidity: 14.5/51% (apparent temp 13.1)

we headed out for a hit at the driving range before having dinner at London Burger with Jodie and Lisa...

conditions were good for Saturday's parkrun with Hodge...we started at the back and took 20secs to cross the line...then Hodge nearly tripped me up about 100m in...despite all that he ran a parkrun PB!

the stats:
start temp/humidity: 4.7/89% (apparent temp same)
start time: 8:02am
total distance: 5.01

54th out of 186, age 60.51%...9th female out of 94...2nd W45-49 out of 9...one unknown ahead of me this week...

golf was stableford and I started poorly (1pt in 3 holes) before finishing with 12 after 9...I had a much better back 9 to score 18 for a total of 30, enough to win a ball...

had dinner with mum and dad at Jimmy's Place in Dickson to celebrate their 51st wedding anniversary...

this morning I was up early to run the Canberra Times 14k...I was hoping to run in the low 70s...

I was chatting to Geoff Barker before the start when Jeff Grey walked through to the front saying hi to Geoff...a minute or two later Jeff collapsed near Simon C and some other runners and had to be treated by the ambos...he looked quite pale and obviously didn't run...I hope he's ok...

I got passed by the first pram dad at 10k and the second passed about 200m later...they were making it look easy...

I passed through the 5k start area and got a shout out from Gary Bowen...I waved back...

I didn't look at my watch until I was on Kings Ave bridge when the carillon bells chimed...I couldn't believe I'd got to that point in 60mins so I just tried to maintain the pace and ended up clocking 68:02 on my watch, 68:01 officially!

I was super stoked with that result...

the stats:
start temp/humidity: 7.2/79% (apparent temp 6.4)
start time: 8:00am
total distance: 13.96
total time: 68:02
avg pace: 4:52
total calories: 994

official result 68:01, 251st out of 891, 52nd out of 417 females, 17th out of 119 F40-49...

I found the k markers from 8k onwards well out by comparison to the others...once again the course was slightly different with the finish on the gravel on RG Menzies Walk rather than the grass...

mum and dad had seen my finish despite me telling them to start looking from 70 minutes!

I was going to catch the shuttle bus back to the start but the line was long so mum and dad drove me back...

after a quick shower and breakfast we took the boys to Hall Markets where they got a multitude of pats!

now we are just chilling watching the Demons lead GWS at three-quarter time!
