my bike turned out to require a bit of work so, some $300 later, it's all good to go...apart from a good service which included bleeding the disc brakes, I had to get the cassette, chain and rear gear cable replaced as well as a new rear disc brake...the cassette and chain were replaced just over two years ago...
I've had the bike since 2008 so I suspect I'll be on the market for a new one in the next 6 months...
