a number of players were missing through injury/unavailability so we had three fill ins (two who had played for us before and one coming from soccer), one junior making the step up and another player who probably shouldn’t have been playing as she broke her nose about three weeks ago (she’s a tough nut)…
the weather was good (for Amaroo) and we started off well with the bulk of possession up until half time…unfortunately that wasn’t reflected on the scoreboard as we only lead by 8 points…2.3-15 v 1.1-7…we were also down one as the player who probably shouldn’t have been playing (see above), got a whack in the nose in the first 5 mins and had to leave the field (her nose didn’t stop bleeding for another 3 hours!)….
our third quarter was quiet as our midfield started to lose some momentum…we did however extend our lead to 9 points…3.6-24 v 2.1-13…
then, as was the case with our two close losses to Belconnen, we let it slip in the last quarter as Ainslie score 17 unanswered points to win by 6…a very frustrating result…
our last two games are against top 4 teams, Tuggeranong and Riverina, so we will need to lift to restrict the margins…
