a nice short walk to the start...not nearly as crowded as the City2Surf...they were saying there were 13000 entrants...
conditions were cool and overcast, there were a couple of drops of rain...
triple world champ Craig Alexander started the race...
an interesting course but without the hills it was easy to slip into cruise mode so I constantly had to push myself to maintain my pace...
there was a breeze around Albert Park lake...otherwise it was quite humid...they had water misters in pit lane but I chose not to run through (I would have if it had been hotter!)...
with a couple of hundred metres to go I could hear the announcer counting down to 70mins gun time...I think I may have just squeaked under!

I bumped into Bruce and Carol waiting for the tram (if I hadn't broken 70mins I would have been running back to the hotel!)...Bruce finished 16th while Carol ran 73 or 74 after not having raced for awhile...
after a quick shower it was off to Haigh's to fulfill a few orders then it was onto some more caching...ended up finding 6 more before heading to the airport...
did a chocolate run on the way home for the airport - dropping off purchase to Jodie, Suze and mum & dad...also found two more caches!
the results will be in tomorrow's Age and then available online from Tuesday... enjoy the run and will more than likely be back to give it another shot!
