Mini Tour de Mountain
up at 4.50am to get Jodie to the start for the 9k...the 25k runners & 17k walkers also started at 6am...conditions were perfect in my opinion!
the 17k run got underway just after 6:30am...25k runners Trevor Jacobs passed me as I was going up Farrer Ridge then Jackie Fairweather passed me at the bottom of the other side...Simon wasn't far behind...
Charlie and I traded places for most of the way as she was walking uphill then much quicker than me on the downhill...Geoff B also caned me on the downhills - does that man have no regard for his safety??!
I only walked the very steepest bits of Farrer Ridge, Wanniassa Hill and on our second loop of Isaac's Ridge...I was most pleased that I'd "run" (not walked would be a better way of putting it!) all of the first loop on Isaac's Ridge, a section I had only previously covered in a car!
there was a steady procession of runners past me in the second half although I did overtake a few myself (hard to tell if they were 25k runners or 17k runners though)...
raced hard to the finish (the last 200m in particular) with a female defence force 25k runner...all good fun!
Jodie completed her first mountain race in just over 66mins which is really good considering she had Mt Taylor to deal with...
