Canberra Half Marathon **1:46:10**

my second half marathon and a PB by 10:53!!...this means i met my CR challenge of sub 1:50:00 for 2006, i will now re-adjust this goal to sub 1:45:00!!

up at 7:30am and down at the start by 8:30am (thanks Jodie)...a fair crowd had already gathered (i think there were a total of 487 finishers in the end)...

mum & dad put in a surprise appearance and stationed themselves well to take photos (to be added later) of the start, they then hightailed it around to the Museum before heading for the finish...

i got into rhythm fairly early despite the congestion at the start (5:32 for the first 1k)...the conditions were ideal and i really enjoyed the entire run...

the stats:
start temp/humidity: 9.3/77%
start time: 9:01am
total distance: 21.23k
total time: 1:46:09
avg pace: 5:00
total calories: 1591
avg HR: 168
finish temp/humidity: 14.2/56%

Aki also did a big PB (by 7:30) to run 1:41:XX, CJ was not far behind while Strewth & Flash Duck finished in that order in under 2hrs...i also saw quite a few of the Customs runners doing well out there too...

i ran a fairly evenly paced race by whichever comparison i use:

1-3k 15:06
4-6k 14:39
7-9k 15:18
10-12k 15:22
13-15k 15:02
16-18k 14:48
19-21k 14:59

1-5k 25:03
6-10k 25:10
11-15k 25:14
16-20k 25:02

1-10k 50:13
11-20k 50:17

it was great to stick around and watch everyone else finish...missed out on the many lucky "bin" prizes though [8-)]...

Mother's Day was celebrated at The Deck with a lovely three course meal...our timing was perfect as the darker clouds started to move in just was we were finishing with coffee...

Go All-rounder go! You did much better than you were capable of, and we all knew that you would, but an improvement of 10 minutes is huge. The sub 45 will happen at the Terry Fox I think and the 1:45 should be a push over too.

Wish I could be at the GC half, but work won't allow it. :( Will be looking forward to reading your report however!
