Friday...walked the boys...Jodie & Lisa came over and then we all drove to Wallaga Lake just south of Bermagui...we were staying in an AirBnB across the road from Camel Rock Beach...did some shopping for stuff we didn't have at Woolies in Bermagui...
Jodie and I walked down to the beach later to check out Camel Rock...there was ash washing up plus a few dead puffer fish...
Saturday...woke up to the smell of smoke which had settled in the area...headed off to Bega for parkrun, noting that all the Canberra parkruns had been cancelled again...the smoke didn't lift until about 15k from Bega...
the course was a mix of gravel trail and concrete paths...I found it deceptively undulating, particularly at the end...very still and muggy...I bought a bottle of homemade lemonade from the Sapphire Coast Runners as part of their fundraising for Shake It up...

the plan was to spend the rest of the day fishing on the lake but when Tammie got the boat on the water the steering had seized...as we re-loaded the boat on the trailer, the wind picked up and it started to rain so it was good not the on the water...we attempted to find someone to fix it the boat repair place in Bermagui and the guy gave us some suggestions to try and if they didn't work to come back at 9am the next day...
we went home and watched some more cricket before heading back to the Bermagui Country Club to play the pokies (Jodie & Tammie) while Lisa and I kept watching the cricket...
we picked up fish & chips (me) & chinese take-away for dinner to take back to the accommodation...
yesterday...Tammie and I headed back in to Bermagui to meet the guy but he didn't show...we will have to book it in in Canberra...
we spent the day shore fishing at two different points on the Lake...only two fish at the first spot over the bridge - Jodie and Tammie both caught flatties...I nearly caught a tailor (got off the hook just as I was about to lift it out and a blue swimmer crab)...the second spot (after a late lunch) was the most productive (14 - a mix of bream (6), tailor (4), flathead (2) plus puffer fish(2))...we fished there for a good 5 hours...
today we left at 9:30am to head back...Jodie & Lisa followed later as they were checking out the shops at various places...we stopped in Cobargo for petrol & baked goodies...
we had a car issue going up Brown Mountain with the car starting to overheat with a subsequent loss of power...we stopped at Pipers Lookout to let it cool down and then had to stop again at the Coupling Bay at the top...
after that there were no further issues until we had dropped the boat back at Tammie's parents place when the car wouldn't start...we had to call NRMA and after lots of testing, he said it looks like something has caused a short between the ignition and the fuses...which means tomorrow it gets towed to the dealer...
Tammie took her mum's car to get to work, taking me home so I could get my car and come back to get everything out of her car...
I also called past the PO in Civic to pick up my new bike tyres which had finally arrived Friday (after we left) having been held up in Customs for over a week...
it was lucky we left when we did as the Snowy Mountains Highway was later closed between the Monaro and Princes Highways due to fires!
