Vets half...

Customs #89

FlashDuck, after her operation on Tuesday, was present to do clock duties while FlashDrake returned to the running side of things albeit slowly...

conditions were a little cooler and a little windier than yesterday but nowhere near as windy as last week...edit: also had another 45secs added to the handicap to start off 12:30...

after a relatively "heavy" week for me I was happy to be under 25:00...hopefully when I get back into the "quicker" stuff, my times will start to drop...legs didn't really want to work any harder today!

the stats:
start temp/humidity: 11.8/74%
start time: 12:28pm
total distance: 4.97
total time: 24:50
avg pace: 5:00
total calories: 372
avg/max HR*: 165/194

*Time spent in HR Zones:
00:02 [Z1: 93-111]
00:19 [Z2: 111-130]
00:10 [Z3: 130-148]
17:05 [Z4: 148-167]
07:59 [Z5: 167-185]

1k splits: 4:57, 5:10, 5:02, 4:55, 4:47 (very similar to last week)

I'm considering doing the Veterans Half Sunday week as my long run (not race)...would aim for 2hrs or just over, starting at either 8:00am or 8:30am...thoughts anyone?!...I have until Monday to enter at the cheaper rate...be good to (a) run amongst other people and (b) not have to plan a route to run!...

If you start in the earliest (slowest) group you don't see anyone ... a few of us are starting in the second group & jogging in two hours or 1:55.

So I think that .. a relaxed half marathon four weeks before the Sydney half is ideal. From the second group you wouldn't be forced to finish in under two hours if you didn't want to on the day!
