Some more of New Plymouth...

outside our hotel...there were signs up all over New Plymouth and surrounds about the event...

the Wind Wand...

man-made waterfall in Pukepura Park...

me, ahead of Rob Walter (SA trainer) and Gary Kirsten (SA coach)...it was early in the run!

approaching halfway...

in the finish straight...you can see mum (olive tracksuit with white insert) & dad (green shirt, camera in position) in the background...

Paritutu Rock...you can see the stairs finish about half way up...231 steps plus some easy trails to that point...

...then you had to climb rocks...

more of the rocky climb...

the view from the top...

our last full day (Monday) was spent caching and we started with climbing Paritutu Rock...a good test for my sore legs!...it took just over 14.5 minutes from the start of the walk to reach the top...the views were magnificent...we also found a cache up there!...

it was a popular day to do it as two other couples made it to the top while we were there then more arrived as we descended...

took about 18.5 minutes to get down as I had to go backwards as my legs couldn't tolerate going forwards!

ended up finding 11 caches for the day which meant 37 for the trip and a total of 1500 finds for me since I started back at the end of December 2005...

Tuesday was pretty much spent travelling...12:55pm New Plymouth to Auckland...4:00pm Auckland to Sydney (watched Rio and Alvin & the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked this time)...7:35pm Sydney to Canberra...

all in all, it was a great trip!
