yesterday we made the road trip to Wagga Wagga only to be hammered by Riverina 94 - 0...they are the best side we have played, not much height but very good skills and fast...even worse, with 5 minutes to go I got smashed in a late tackle which saw my right lower leg trapped under the tackler and instant pain for me...initially I couldn't move my ankle but, eventually, I managed to make it to my feet and limp back into position...all thoughts of running today just about went out the window...
after the game I was able to move my ankle without pain but my foot was really sore and a little swollen...extending my big toe up caused the most pain...
my teammates were concerned and asked if I'd be right to run, my response was I'd have to see how I felt in the morning (thinking it was unlikely)...
I managed to ice my foot once on the drive home (sharing the ice with Jodie who had hammered her left knee)...once home I iced twice more but it was still quite painful to walk...
I rubbed voltaren in before bed and then again this morning when I got up...
I had a couple of twinges during the night but this morning it appeared to be a lot better so I thought I'll start the run and see how it goes...
met fellow CoolRunner deadcat before the start and also said hello to Geoff B, Nigel C and Mick H...
started off steady and then managed to get into a good rhythm....5k was reached in 24:58, 10k 49:39, halfway in 52:XX, 15k in 1:14:12, 20k in 1:38:37 and finally the finish in 1:43:44, a big PB...!

Great PB AR!
Now... where do I sign up for Aussie Rules?
Would you like to take the running group's smash-your-foot taper session before the next big race? Or perhaps one type of pain cancels out another?
Congrats on a great run and a well deserved PB.
Sorry to hear about the footy injuries for both you and Jodie though. They sure do breed their sportspeople tough in Wagga don't they?
Wow - awesome PB - well done! You have amazing willpower and pain threshold to be able to run like that after such an injury - fantastic!!
