Missed it by that much...

finally relaxing at home after a busy weekend...

it all started Saturday when I did two caches on the way to golf...then I managed to play 11 shots better that last (although that wouldn't be hard after last week's shocker!)...

picked up Tim and his GF to make our way to Sydney...arrived at the accommodation (Citigate Sebel) around 7.30ish and then headed out to dinner at Fujiya (Japanese)...

back by 9.30pm and got race gear ready for the next day...

Sunday dawned and we started moving around 6:45am...Tim had to pick up his preferred number then I jumped in the SMH1 start around 8:15am...

the hooter went off at 9am with no countdown catching quite a few people by surprise...it took me about 30 seconds to cross the start...

I started off OK but had a flat patch in the middle before finishing strongly...high-fived the CR cheersquad (thanks guys!)...76:53 on my watch and 77:40 on the timing card...so back to SMH2 for me...

although I didn't go sub-75 I'm just happy I made it through relatively unscathed on 8 weeks training...now I have 6 weeks until the Sydney Half...

the stats:
start temp/humidity: 19.5/30%
start time: 9:01am
total distance: 14.13
total time: 76:53
avg pace: 5:27
total calories: 1062
avg/max HR*: 170/183

*Time spent in HR Zones:
00:00 [Z1: 93-111]
00:02 [Z2: 111-130]
00:48 [Z3: 130-148]
12:09 [Z4: 148-167]
64:41 [Z5: 167-185]

1k splits: 5:19, 5:07, 5:27, 5:30, 5:14, 5:16, 6:30, 5:57, 5:26, 5:42, 5:42, 5:15, 4:46, 5:06

Tim was a bit disappointed with his time (58:XX) but he hasn't really done much training at all...his focus will now switch to the Noosa Tri now that he's moved into his new house and his business looks like it'll be up and running by the end of the month...

after a quick wade in the surf (brr!) it was an equally quick change of clothes before joining the queue to catch a bus back to the city...actually moved quite smoothly...

we left the carpark around 12:40pm and we got to Fadden by 3:50pm (making me 20mins late for training but I had phoned ahead)....Tim & his GF then took my car 'cause I could get a lift with Jodie...

I only missed the warm up & a couple of fielding drills and we trained fairly solidly until 6pm...

now I have about 7hrs until I have to get up and head to our first squad fitness session - hopefully they'll just focus on the upper body!

I will sleep well if not for that long tonight!

Good run, all things considered. The first 2kms were probably a fraction quick. You went up the hill well - 11:47 from 5 to 7k. I was 11:57.

It was good to see you out on the course, even if I didn't know it was you! ;-) I came to the conclusion long ago that I don't have enough blood to power my brain and my legs at the same time, so recognising anything more detailed than a blue and yellow hat when I'm running is just beyond my limited capabilities :-)

Maybe next time!
