5000m...

left work a little early so i could have a bit of time between getting home & going to the track & field meet...

the stats:
start temp/humidity: 23.0/47%
start time: 4:46pm
total distance: 15.40
total time: 47:48 (actual moving 46:XX)
avg/max speed: 19.3/37.9kph
total calories: 427
avg/max HR: 135/158
avg cadence: 77
finish temp/humidity: 22.2/50%

got to the AIS around 6:45pm...Charlie was on the gate & gave me a bit of a rundown and then Katie walked me over....speedygeoff was there as was Griffin who introduced himself to me...

not enough runners to have a crack at the W35 4 x 1500m relay but there we still 6 teams (3 male & 3 female) in that event...it was fun watching everyone compete...

the 3000m/5000m ending up starting about 15mins late (it was quite cool by then to due to the wind)...an interesting concept to run both together (you don't have to commit to either option at the start)...i got lapped by just about everybody & i think i finished dead last...Katie ran her first sub 12:00 3000m so that was pretty cool...go plenty of "go allrounder/coolrunner" cheers each lap too!

last time i "did" track was in 1987 at the ACT Schools Champs on the main field (when it still had a track of course)....the longest event i did then was 1500m...i only ever did that stuff for fun, not seriously...

the stats:
start temp/humidity: 17.4/73%
start time: 8:32pm
total distance: 5.09
total time: 23:33
avg pace: 4:37
total calories: 379
avg/max HR: 180/195
finish temp/humidity: 17.3/74%

1k splits (as per the Garmin): 4:29, 4:40, 4:40, 4:47, 4:37

[looks like the 305 was adding just over 7m per lap...]

i'm pretty pleased with the time given i'm not doing much running training, haven't run faster than that at Customs since early November & not consistently quicker than that since September....bit of a headwind in the home straight as well to contend with...

walked a "cool down" lap with Ewen then listed to announcements/certificate presentations for ACT/Australian record setters before heading home....

Running in circles is good fun eh? The 4th km shows you ran pretty hard. 23:33 is a good time considering your foot problems.

Maybe you should have a crack at that 1987 1500m PB!

I'm always dead last! Hope to see you there some Thursday night. I'll be there on Feb. 15th

I find I can run Customs and Track in about the same time. So one is a pretty good indicator of what you could have done for the other.

Well done on the 5000m. Those splits were overall very consistent and the average pace of sub-4.45 is pretty zippy. Would love to see you out at the track some time.
